Travel Nursing Job Details

Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in New York
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical telemetry nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification or demonstrated competency
• Ability to read and interpret basic cardiac rhythm strips before the assignment begins
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and prioritization skills in a high-acuity environment

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Perform and document frequent neurological assessments, including NIH Stroke Scale evaluations
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms, identify changes promptly, and initiate appropriate interventions
• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients with acute stroke, complex medical conditions, and telemetry needs
• Support compliance with stroke core measures, including dysphagia screening, patient education, and individualized care planning
• Administer medications accurately in accordance with barcode medication administration standards
• Coordinate care with providers, therapy teams, case management, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
• Manage admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover unit
• Maintain a consistent focus on fall prevention, skin integrity, infection prevention, and overall patient safety
• Collaborate effectively with primary and team nursing staff to promote continuity and quality of care
