Registered Nurse (Med/Surg)
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized treatment plans. This role provides direct nursing care to medical-surgical and post-operative patients while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Provide direct bedside nursing care to medical-surgical and post-operative patients.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Perform clinical procedures including IV therapy, catheter insertion, wound care, and dressing changes.
- Monitor patient conditions, vital signs, and telemetry data, reporting significant changes promptly.
- Operate and adjust specialized medical equipment as required.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and care management teams on treatment and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records and documentation.
- Adhere to all nursing standards, policies, procedures, and infection control practices.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
- Active New York State Registered Nurse License with Primary Source Verification.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required for Queens locations).
- Minimum two (2) years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year in:
- A large acute care hospital setting, or
- A post-acute care facility and/or acute care hospital setting.
