ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Overview
This position is part of a Float Pool and requires flexibility to work in various Intensive Care Units across multiple locations within the region. The role encompasses working primarily in the ICU environment with the possibility of floating to different units as needed.
Shift Details
- Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Unit Information
- Units: ICU & CCU (20 beds), ICU (8 beds)
- Patient Ratios: 1:2, may be 1:1 in critical scenarios
- Common Diagnoses: Neuro surgery, sepsis, respiratory failure, pneumonia, stroke, chronic ventilation
- EMR System: Cerner
- Nurse Aides: Available on certain shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Participation in rotation required
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Monitor Technology: Nurses are required to read strips; no dedicated monitor tech on duty
Responsibilities
- Administer patient care in high-acuity settings with the ability to manage complex drips and ventilation systems.
- Assure accurate monitoring and documentation of patient conditions using the Cerner EMR system.
- Float to the IMCU, DOU, or observation units as the staffing needs dictate.
- Participate in orientation procedures across various units as required.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of ICU experience; travel experience is preferred.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required.
- Special Skills: Candidates with neuro or cardiac experience are encouraged to apply, but must validate skills.
Additional Information
Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to changing clinical situations. Orientation to specific floors will be provided, including training on intricate procedures and technology.
