Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Progressive Care Unit. This position provides care for adult and geriatric patients in a mixed-acuity unit, including progressive care, medical-surgical, telemetry, and occasional intensive care patients. The Registered Nurse is responsible for managing varying patient acuities and ratios while providing safe, comprehensive care during night shifts.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week; weekend rotation, every other holiday, and standby call as needed.
- Assignment Dates: 11/30/202603/01/2027.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA); at least 2 years of acute care Registered Nurse experience in medical-surgical and Progressive Care Unit settings within the past 3 years; travel experience; ability to care for patient ratios of approximately 36; competency with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, ventilated patients, central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, tracheostomies, cardiac and vasoactive medication infusions, insulin infusions, thrombolytic agents, wound care, drains, feeding tubes, intravenous therapy, and rapid response procedures. First-time travelers must have more than 5 years of Registered Nurse experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge experience and a strong Progressive Care Unit foundation.
- Additional Information: The unit includes mixed medical-surgical, telemetry, and progressive care patients, with occasional intensive care patients and ventilator management. Registered Nurses are expected to care for all acuity levels, participate in bedside shift reporting and hourly rounding, and complete a telemetry examination before the assignment begins. The telemetry examination includes adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation and requires a passing score of at least 80 percent within the permitted attempts. Influenza vaccination is required, with medical or religious exemptions permitted.
