Unit Information
Join a dynamic healthcare team in a Progressive Care Unit focused on providing high-quality patient care. Our unit is structured to handle a variety of complex medical cases with an emphasis on stroke management, cardiac drips, and supportive care for patients on continuous BiPAP therapy.
General Information
- Number of Beds: 25
- Staffing: 54 FTEs including RNs and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
- Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 6 Staff RNs, 3 PCTs
- Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 6 Staff RNs, 3 PCTs
- Patient Ratios: 4:1 or 5:1 during staffing shortages
- Equipment Used: BiPAP, restraints, Airvo, bedside monitoring, telemetry
- Electronic Medical Record: Meditech
Qualifications
- Required Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) Certification
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Preceptor experience
- Charge nurse experience
Typical Responsibilities
- Management of stroke patients and cardiac drips
- Support for patients on continuous BiPAP
- Care for post-procedural patients
- Conducting emergent thoracentesis procedures
- Tele-monitoring of patients
