Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Operating Room Madison, WI. This position supports complex surgical care across urology, gynecology, oncology, kidney and pancreas transplantation, and robotic surgery. The role includes 12-hour day shifts, weekend call responsibilities, and care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shifts, 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week. Weekend call responsibilities may apply. Orientation consists of two weeks of 8-hour day shifts.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); two years of acute-care inpatient experience in the relevant specialty within the last three years; experience with the Epic charting system; experience in urology, gynecology and oncology, kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation, and robotic surgery; competency in abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy, anterior and posterior repair, cystectomy, cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, transurethral resection of the prostate, ureteroscopy, laparoscopic gynecologic procedures, urinary bladder catheterization, administration of blood and blood products, code response, specimen handling, infection control, universal protocol, fire safety, laser safety, latex allergy precautions, and malignant hyperthermia response.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge experience and experience in Level I or Level II trauma settings.
- Additional Information: Surgical services include kidney transplantation, robotic nephrectomy, hysterectomy, urological and gynecologic robotic procedures, holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HOLEP), cystectomy, neobladder procedures, ureteroscopy, laparoscopic gynecology, anterior and posterior repair, abdominal hysterectomy, procurements, and prostatectomy. Influenza vaccination is required, with medical or religious exemptions permitted. A pre-start cardiac rhythm interpretation examination is required, with a passing score of 80% or higher. The examination includes recognition of ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, sinus bradycardia, and third-degree heart blocks. Two attempts are permitted.
