CARDIOTHORACIC RN
UNIT DETAILS
- 70 Beds
- Patient Ratio: Days 1:4–5 | Nights 1:5–6
- 12-Hour Shifts: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM / 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- BLS Required | ACLS Recommended
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- RN License
- BLS
- Strong EKG interpretation skills
- Medication/drip titration experience
- Must be able to titrate Cardizem & Heparin
- Strong basic nursing skills
COMMON PATIENTS/CASES
MI | CHF | A-Fib | COPD | Pacemaker/AICD Placement | Lung Surgery | Esophagectomy | Gen Med Overflow
- Frequent chest tube management
TELEMETRY
- Phillips monitors + Monitor Techs
- Nurses must be able to read and interpret their own strips
RESPIRATORY
- CPAP/BiPAP for patients on home regimens
- Heated high-flow in special circumstances
SCHEDULE & WEEKENDS
- Every other weekend
- Days: Saturday/Sunday
- Nights: Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday
- Holiday rotation required
FLOATING
- May float to other General Medical units
CALL
- No call or standby requirement at this time
DRESS CODE
- Any color scrubs
