Job Summary for Telemetry Nurse Position:
- Monitor and interpret patients’ vital signs and heart rhythms using automated equipment (e.g., EKGs).
- Provide care for acutely ill patients, often those transitioning from intensive care, requiring close cardiac observation.
- Respond promptly to changes in patient status and collaborate with healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Administer medications, perform assessments, and document care in the electronic medical record (Cerner).
- Manage and prioritize the care of multiple patients with serious cardiac or other medical conditions.
- Educate patients and families regarding condition management, procedures, and care plans.
- Adhere to hospital protocols and participate in stroke response as NIH stroke-trained nurse.
- Comply with certification and state licensure requirements, including BLS (AHA), Michigan RN license (active at submission), and preferred NIHSS/ACLS certifications.
- Work at McLaren Greater Lansing, a teaching hospital with specialized cardiac and acute care units.
Submission & Certification Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of RN Telemetry experience (required)
- NIH stroke training (required)
- NIHSS and ACLS certifications (preferred)
- BLS (AHA) certification (required)
- Active Michigan RN license at time of submission (required)
About Facility:
- McLaren Greater Lansing (310-bed tertiary teaching hospital, Lansing, MI)
- Specialties: Cardiac care, oncology, women’s and children’s health, med/surg, pharmacy
- EMR: Cerner
Additional Facility Policies:
- OT/Holiday/Callback: 1.1x regular rates
- Extension Discount: $1/hr on initial extension
- Local traveler rate: 10% reduction for those within 35 miles of facility
Med Ninjas Job ID #20509. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
