Pediatric Acute Care RN Requirements
- Experience: 2 years required.
- License: Active Illinois RN license or application initiated.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA).
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM.
- Patient Ratio: 1:4.
- Trauma Level: Level I.
- EMR: EPIC.
- Unit Capacity: 22 pediatric beds; shares the unit with 10 Pediatric Hematology/Oncology beds.
- Patient Population: Pediatric medical/surgical patients, including hyperbilirubinemia, neurological conditions, diabetes, failure to thrive, cystic fibrosis, COVID-19, and orthopedic conditions.
- Required Skills: Pediatric acute-care experience and familiarity with heated high-flow oxygen and BiPAP.
- Floating: Required to other pediatric units and Mother/Baby for newborn assignments. ICU floating only if experienced; no chemotherapy patients.
- Weekends: Every other weekend (Friday/Saturday nights).
