Job Summary:
Pediatric Floor Nurse in a pediatric unit located in the healthcare provider's facility. This position involves providing patient care for medical and surgical pediatric patients, including those with diagnoses such as hyperbilirubinemia, neurological conditions, diabetes, failure to thrive, cystic fibrosis, COVID-19, and orthopedic issues. The role requires collaboration with charge nurses, house supervisors, nurse aides, and other healthcare team members to ensure quality care and patient safety.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts from 07:00 to 19:30 or 19:00 to 07:30, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, at least two years of relevant clinical experience, CPR (certified by the American Heart Association), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a pediatric acute care setting and familiarity with EPIC charting system.
- Floats: RNs may float within the children's hospital to other pediatric units or to maternal/newborn units, excluding intensive care units unless experienced, and to chemotherapy units.
- Additional Information:
- Must have a valid active Illinois license or proof that the licensure process is underway.
- Shift orientation includes two shifts, with possible extension upon management approval.
- Uniform dress code allows any pediatric-appropriate scrub top and solid-colored scrub pants.
- Holiday shifts are required unless mutually discussed and approved; every other weekend is mandatory.
- No mandatory call or standby requirements at this time.
- The unit operates with a pediatrician available 24/7, and nurse-to-patient ratios are maintained for optimal patient care.
