Med Ninjas is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Des Moines, Iowa.

Job Summary (List Format):
- Interview Process:
- Quick interviews via phone call/text (405 area code).
- Location/Radius Requirement:
- No local candidates; must live 50+ miles from facility (verified by driver’s license).
- Employee Separation Policy:
- Previous FTE/PRN staff at UPH (including float pool) are ineligible for travel positions within 12 months of last employment.
- Separation policy does not apply to previous travel staff.
- Holiday Requirement:
- Must work 1-2 out of 3 upcoming winter holidays (unless unit is closed).
- Orientation Dates:
- Options: 10/26 and 11/9.
- Pay/Benefits Details:
- NBO: 16 hours.
- EMR: EPIC.
- OT/Holiday: 1.15x multiplier.
- Call Back: 1.5x multiplier, 2-hour minimum.
- On-Call: $9/hr.
- Charge/Precept: $6/hr.
- OT Billable: Over 40 hrs/week for 36-40 hr schedule; over 48 hrs/week for 48 hr schedule.
- Unit/Patient Details:
- Unit Size: 25 beds.
- Patient Types: Post-TNK, Ortho, Crani-neurosurgery, laminectomies, polytrauma.
- Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:5-6.
- Required Drips/Titrations: Heparin, PCAs, 3% sodium.
- Equipment: Lift equipment, telemetry, chest tubes, Airvo.
- May float to other med-surg units and across all campuses (Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, Iowa Methodist).
- Experience Requirements:
- 24 months recent Stepdown, Progressive Care, or Med/Surg experience (hospital/medical center).
- Neuro, orthopedic, and trauma care experience.
- EPIC EMR experience.
- Must have completed at least one travel contract in the last 12 months (no first-time travelers).
- Experience with lift equipment, telemetry, chest tubes, Airvo.
- Experience with heparin, PCAs (required); 3% sodium (preferred).
- ACLS (preferred).
- Submission/Profile Requirements:
- Resume/work history (24 months relevant experience).
- Skills checklist (specific to Med Surg/Telemetry).
- Active Iowa or Compact/Multistate RN license at time of submission.
- Driver’s license (required).
- BLS (AHA or ARC) certification.
- NIHSS certification (can be obtained during onboarding).
- Professional reference from charge/supervisor within past 24 months (preferred).
- De-escalation certificate may be required.
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (AHA or ARC).
- NIHSS.
- Licensure:
- Iowa RN license or Compact/Multistate license.
