Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) environment. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population, including adolescents through geriatrics. This role requires independent performance of vital sign checks and blood glucose monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough assessments and monitor patients in a PCU setting.
- Administer medications and titrate cardiac drips as needed while ensuring continuous telemetry monitoring.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide patient-centered care.
- Utilize effective communication through the SBAR method to report patient conditions and updates.
- Maintain accurate documentation using Epic and Pyxis systems.
Qualifications
- minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcomed.
- Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIH).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4.
- Flexible availability including every other weekend and major holidays as required.
Work Environment
This position involves working in a 36-bed PCU with an average daily census of 30 patients. Duties include caring for patients with neurological, respiratory, cardiac, and mixed medical conditions.
Additional Information
- Scrub color: Navy Blue.
- Availability for a maximum of 7 days of time off (RTO) with specific blackout dates during Spring Break.
- Floating may be required within the facility based on the needs of the patients and scope of practice.
- Full compliance with all requirements is essential to ensure timely start date.
