Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Kentucky
• Minimum of 2 years of bedside clinical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before the first shift
• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work night shifts and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments within the required timeframe and develop individualized plans of care.
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Monitor patient progress, recognize changes in condition, and communicate pertinent information promptly to providers and nursing leadership.
• Support patient rehabilitation goals through education, encouragement, and participation in the interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Initiate discharge planning at admission and provide patient and family education to promote safe transitions of care.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care coordination accurately and in a timely manner.
• Delegate appropriately and provide direction, training, and supervision to nursing support staff.
• Promote patient, staff, and environmental safety by following infection prevention, safe handling, and facility procedures.
• Prioritize care, manage time effectively, and contribute to a positive, collaborative medical-surgical unit environment.
• Assume charge responsibilities after orientation, as requested, and pursue ongoing professional development.
