The role involves caring for post-open heart surgical patients, including those with complex cardiovascular conditions such as stemis, cardiogenic shock, and post-transplant patients, with a focus on critical care interventions.
Job Details
- Position: RN - Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular
- Location: Not specified, within the healthcare provider's facility
- Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association); ACLS preferred; CCRN a plus
- Education & Experience: Active Illinois license or application initiated; at least 2 years of ICU CVICU experience; 0 years of minimum specified experience required, but 2 years recommended
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: At least 2 solid years of CVICU experience with ICU assignments, capable of managing complex cardiovascular patients independently with strong assessment, critical thinking, and interpreting strips
- Duties: Care for ventilated patients with multiple invasive devices, titrate various drips, utilize advanced cardiac monitoring, and respond to high-stress, fast-paced ICU environment
- Additional information: Unit utilizes advanced cardiovascular equipment including IABPs, Impellas, Swan-Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CCRT. Float to all levels of care may be required. A one-day unit-specific orientation and two days with a preceptor are provided.
