Opportunity:

RN - Special Care Nursery (SCN)/Postpartum

Job Details:

• Night shift position with every other weekend requirement
• Holiday requirements include 1 summer and 1 winter holiday
• Block scheduling in place
• First to float within the LDRP department
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 babies or 3 mother-baby couplets for postpartum assignments
• Must be able to flex between Special Care Nursery and postpartum assignments depending on census
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• 2 skills preferred: NICU Level 2 and postpartum experience
• Must be skilled in attending deliveries as the baby nurse
• Experience with IV start and maintenance required
• Experience with Bubble CPAP, Hi-Flow, and ventilator management prior to transfer required
• Must be able to assist with umbilical line placement and maintenance
• Must be comfortable titrating drips including D5W and TPN
• Standby call requirement included
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• 3 nights of orientation with staff
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• BSN not required

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a Level 2 NICU within an integrated LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum) department that includes a Special Care Nursery. The unit maintains a 5-bed SCN and provides around-the-clock neonatologist coverage to ensure high-quality care for neonatal patients. The facility manages a range of neonatal diagnoses including phototherapy, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and suspected sepsis, with access to respiratory therapy equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, Hi-Flow, and ventilators prior to patient transfer.
