Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Med Surg and Telemetry specialty. This position is part of the float pool, where you will support the Emergency Department (ED) Holding unit, caring for patients awaiting inpatient beds. You will handle a range of medical/surgical adult diagnoses and may float to various MedSurg areas as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care for patients with MS/Tele cases and float as required.
- Monitor telemetry and manage patients with dysrhythmias.
- Perform colostomy care, feeding tube management, and renal failure care.
- Administer blood products and manage peripheral lines.
- Conduct phlebotomy and PICC line management.
- Utilize isolation precautions and manage chest tubes.
- Interpret ABGs and provide non-invasive airway management.
Required Skills and Certifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of traveler experience.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management.
Preferred Skills and Certifications:
- NIHSS certification.
- Experience with IV insulin protocols and pre/post hemodialysis management.
- Knowledge of spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries.
Job Details:
- Target Ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU level patients.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required.
- Contract staff may be required to report during catastrophic events.
This position requires passing EKG testing prior to the start date. The unit utilizes standard equipment, cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other monitoring systems, with documentation through Epic and medication management via Pyxis.
