Travel Nursing Job Details

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical or Clinical Observation nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, medication administration, and clinical documentation skills
• Ability to provide a complete work history and explain employment gaps longer than 90 days
• Adaptability, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting students and new team members in a teaching-hospital environment
• Flexibility to meet weekend and holiday scheduling requirements

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical and Clinical Observation patients
• Perform focused and head-to-toe assessments, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established standards of care
• Monitor patients throughout observation stays and support timely evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, students, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and follow-up care
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively during patient handoffs
• Contribute to a supportive learning environment for students and new hires
