Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical Floor. This position supports patients recovering from elective joint replacements, spine and neurological surgeries, and fractures in a fast-paced acute care setting. The role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration, and flexibility to support changing patient-care needs.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience
- Willingness to obtain or maintain licensure as required
- Preferred Qualifications: Medical-surgical, neurological, or orthopedic experience preferred.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information:
- Patient assignments generally range from 1 nurse to 46 patients.
- Common patient populations include elective joint replacements, spine and neurological surgeries, and fractures.
- Nurses may manage heparin infusions and must identify cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to telemetry alerts.
- The care team includes patient care technicians who assist with hourly rounds, direct patient care, vital signs, glucose checks, ambulation, and patient mobility.
- A charge nurse is scheduled each shift and also carries a patient assignment.
- Self-scheduling is available, subject to departmental staffing needs.
- Every-other-weekend scheduling is required.
- Holiday coverage includes 2 summer holidays and 3 winter holidays.
- Two department-specific orientation shifts are provided.
- Scrub color is galaxy blue.
