Job Summary
Nurse, Medical Surgical Floor. This day-shift position provides care to adult and geriatric patients in a 32-bed medical-surgical setting. The role includes a 1:6 patient ratio, collaboration with interdisciplinary support services, and participation in rapid response team activation when clinically indicated.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shifts of 12 hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week and 36- or 48-hour weekly options.
- Required Qualifications:
- One year of recent experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience caring for up to six patients
- Skills in medical-surgical nursing, blood product administration, central line blood draws, chest tube management, colostomy and ileostomy care, cerebrovascular accident (CVA) care, feeding tube management, heparin administration, high-flow nasal cannula management, insulin administration, isolation precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE), nasal cannula use, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen administration, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA), peripheral line care, phlebotomy, peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line management, pre- and post-hemodialysis management, renal failure care, intravenous line initiation and maintenance, surgical drain management, and wound care
- Preferred Qualifications: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information:
- No call requirement
- Floating to like units may be required based on operational needs
- Six weekend shifts are required within each six-week period
- Electronic charting is used
- Unit orientation is provided
- Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary services
