Job Overview:
We are seeking an adaptable and fast-acting ER Holding RN to join our emergency nursing team. In this high-volume role, you will care for admitted patients who remain in the Emergency Department while awaiting inpatient bed placement (boarding/holding). You will bridge emergency care and inpatient nursing, delivering ongoing assessment, medication administration, and continuous monitoring to maintain high standards of patient care and safety.
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to admitted telemetry, med-surg, and progressive care patients holding in the Emergency Department
- Perform ongoing physical assessments, vital sign monitoring, and reassessments during extended ER wait times
- Administer scheduled and emergency medications, continuous IV infusions, and pain management therapies
- Manage telemetry monitoring, diagnostic testing updates, and lab result follow-ups for boarded patients
- Recognize and respond immediately to changes in patient condition or acute decompensation, initiating emergency interventions as needed
- Provide clear handoff reports to inpatient floor units upon bed availability and ensure smooth transitions of care
- Educate patients and family members regarding inpatient admission processes, plans of care, and treatment updates
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in an Emergency Department (ER), ER Holding unit, or high-acuity Telemetry/PCU setting
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice, or a compact RN license if applicable
- Certifications: Active BLS and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications; PALS or TNCC preferred
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
