Opportunity:

RN - MedSurg

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday rotation required
• No on-call or standby requirement for agency staff
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Work interchangeably across three MedSurg units (24, 17, and 15 beds respectively)
• Common diagnoses include post-operative general, orthopedic, and podiatry cases, as well as DM PN, CHF, COPD, cellulitis, CBI, BiPAP, peritoneal dialysis, surgical drains, and wound vacs
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Telemetry patients are centrally monitored by monitor tech; RNs do not read tele
• RT manages BiPAP, high flow, and Vapotherm equipment
• Floating may be required to ICU or Tele to take MedSurg overflow within scope of practice
• Charge nurse carries patients; house supervisor available 24/7 without patient assignment
• Nurse aids available on unit with assignments based on acuity
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certification: BLS
• Illinois nursing license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent post-operative recovery experience preferred; first-time travelers accepted
• Professional scrubs in any color required
• Orientation consists of 2 twelve-hour shifts before working independently
