Job Summary
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) department nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive care to obstetric patients in a healthcare facility setting. This role involves assisting with high-risk labor and delivery, neonatal resuscitation, postpartum management, and supporting patient outcomes through specialized clinical skills. The position offers an opportunity for experienced registered nurses to work night shifts in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Job Details
- Location: Topeka, Kansas
- Shift Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid Kansas or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at time of submission; Basic Life Support (BLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); American Heart Association (AHA) certification; 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery; experience with high-risk obstetrics and neonatal care; proficiency in use of external fetal heart monitoring (EFM), sterile vaginal exams, and postpartum care.
- Preferred Qualifications: Specialty experience in Labor and Delivery, postpartum unit, or antepartum care.
- Additional Information: The candidate will be expected to float within the scope of labor, postpartum, and antepartum units as needed. Orientation hours are conducted onsite, with modules completed during orientation. Experience with handling high-risk pregnancies, maternal and neonatal assessments, and delivery procedures is essential. Candidates should be capable of assisting with C-sections, external cephalic versions, and managing obstetric emergencies.
