Position Overview

NuWest is seeking experienced Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses for an 8-week contract assignment in Torrance, California. This high-acuity role requires recent ICU experience in a Level 1 Trauma Institution serving a large, diverse patient population. RNs will provide advanced, life-sustaining care to critically ill and unstable patients, including trauma, neurological, cardiac, respiratory, and multi-system failure cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform continuous, comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients and recognize early signs of deterioration, initiating rapid life-saving interventions.
• Manage patients on mechanical ventilation, monitoring respiratory status and collaborating with the care team on ventilator management and weaning.
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data, including arterial lines, central venous pressures, and cardiac rhythms.
• Administer and titrate vasoactive, sedative, and other high-alert critical care medications.
• Manage invasive lines, tubes, drains, and advanced monitoring and support equipment.
• Respond to codes and emergencies, and provide care for patients requiring continuous renal replacement therapy, ECMO, or other advanced therapies as applicable.
• Collaborate with intensivists, specialists, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and carry out individualized care plans.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families, and document accurately in accordance with unit protocols and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in California.
• Minimum one (1) year of recent ICU nursing experience in a Level 1 Trauma Institution in a metropolitan, high-volume, diverse-population setting.
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, NIHSS Certification, MAB or CPI, and LA City Fire and Life Safety Card (must be LA City-issued).
• Must complete LA County Employee Health Clearance prior to assignment start date.
• Must be able to pass required background check and drug screening.
