Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Michigan Travel Nursing Job | 13-Week Contract

Experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses (ER RNs) can bring their emergency nursing expertise to a close-knit care team in Laurium, Michigan. This 13-week travel nurse contract offers an opportunity to provide care in a focused six-bed emergency department near Lake Superior on the scenic Keweenaw Peninsula.

Travel ER RN Job Details

• Location: Laurium, Michigan
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,040–$2,150
• Contract: 13 weeks; September 21, 2026 through December 19, 2026
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week, including eligibility for low-census hours
• Emergency Department: Six-bed ED with an average daily census of approximately 20 patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:3
• Float Expectations: Possible float to the medical-surgical unit
• Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Every third weekend; holidays as needed
• Call-Back: May be required based on department needs; two-hour minimum when called back

Emergency Room Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent emergency room or emergency department nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current ACLS, TNCC, and PALS certifications
• Associate degree or nursing certificate
• Experience with Epic EMR, Pyxis medication management, cardiac monitoring and telemetry, infusion pumps, and emergency response equipment is preferred; training may be provided on select systems
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to follow department uniform and identification badge requirements

Travel Emergency Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, timely, and compassionate emergency nursing care to patients across a range of acuity levels
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and continuously monitor patient condition, including EKG, invasive pressure, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation when indicated
• Use critical-thinking skills to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
• Administer medications and treatments accurately according to provider orders and established protocols
• Manage and care for patients with tubes, endotracheal tubes, tracheostomies, and mechanical ventilation needs
• Demonstrate competency in conscious sedation and other emergency nursing interventions
• Apply aseptic technique and maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary team to support efficient patient flow and quality patient outcomes
• Float to the medical-surgical unit when needed and participate in weekend, holiday, and call-back coverage
