Emergency Department RN Requirements

• Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience; Emergency Department or emergency room nursing experience preferred
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Current PALS certification
• Current CPI or MOAB certification
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Triage patients according to acuity, presenting condition, and care requirements
• Perform timely initial assessments and ongoing reassessments of patient condition
• Provide immediate nursing interventions for urgent and critical illness
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical standards and provider orders
• Recognize changes in patient status and escalate concerns promptly
• Deliver emergency care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Provide patient and family education, discharge instructions, and follow-up guidance
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Emergency Department
