Job Summary
Operating Room Open Heart Milwaukee, WI. The position supports cardiovascular and thoracic surgical services in a fast-paced operating room environment, with opportunities for Registered Nurses, Operating Room Technicians, Surgical Assistants, and Anesthesia Technicians. Team members are expected to work independently with minimal guidance while supporting complex open-heart, vascular, and thoracic procedures.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and 2 years of experience. Operating Room Technician: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, graduation from an accredited school, and 2 years of experience. Surgical Assistant: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, graduation from an accredited school, and 2 years of experience. Anesthesia Technician: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and 1 year of experience. Strong cardiovascular operating room experience; ability to work independently with minimal guidance; proficiency supporting coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), valve replacement, robotic thoracic, generator exchange, lead extraction, heart transplant, and femoral-popliteal bypass procedures.
- Preferred Qualifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification for Operating Room Technicians. Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification for Surgical Assistants.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 8 hours per shift, minimum 40 hours per week.
- Assignment Dates: 11/30/202602/27/2027.
- Additional Information: The operating room averages approximately 10 cases per day and supports a 1:1 patient ratio. Registered Nurses, Operating Room Technicians, and Surgical Assistants may support cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, including robotic thoracic cases. Anesthesia Technicians may operate blood gas, transesophageal echocardiography, and ultrasound equipment and may rotate between cardiovascular operating rooms, main operating rooms, and cardiac catheterization laboratories. A two-week orientation is provided. Weekend coverage is on call only, including one 24-hour weekend call rotation per month, with end-of-shift call up to once per week and a 30-minute response time. Holiday coverage is on call as needed.
