Job Summary
Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) RN position located in a Level I trauma center. This role involves providing specialized surgical care for cardiovascular and thoracic procedures within a high-acuity acute care hospital setting. The RN will support a variety of complex cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries, adhering to clinical standards and ensuring patient safety.
Job Details
- Certifications, Education, and Experience: Active Illinois registered nurse license or in application process; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred; minimum of 3 years of OR experience with specialized cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures.
- Schedule: 8-hour days, 5 days per week, with a minimum of 40 hours weekly.
- Specialized Skills and Procedures: Experience with cardiovascular surgeries including Aortic Aneurysm repair, CABG, Mitral valve replacement, TAVR, and intra-aortic balloon pump; vascular procedures like carotid endarterectomy, endovascular aneurysm repair, and vein stripping; endoscopic skills including bronchoscopy and EGD; proficient in laser safety, specimen handling, and adhering to universal protocol.
- Operational Requirements: Open to first-time travelers; floating within scope to meet facility needs; on-call 1-2 nights per week and every 5th weekend, with confirmation of schedule requests with management; no more than five RTO days, with at least two major holidays worked; actively licensed in Illinois or in the process of obtaining.
- Additional Information: Experience in a teaching hospital, Level I trauma, and with interdisciplinary and vascular surgical teams preferred; familiarity with Cerner charting system; ability to meet compliance and orientation requirements within specified deadlines.
