REGISTERED NURSE – JUVENILE DETENTION (EVENING SHIFT)
Assignment Details:
5 shifts × 8 hours | Evening Shift | 16-Week Assignment | Secure Juvenile Facility
Position Overview
NuWest Group is seeking experienced Correctional Registered Nurses to provide comprehensive clinical care to adolescents in a secure detention facility. This role operates within a locked forensic environment and requires regular interaction with law enforcement personnel.
Candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year of recent experience as a Correctional RN with in-patient experience in a secure juvenile detention setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct intake health screenings for newly admitted youth
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
- Administer medications and prescribed treatments
- Respond to and manage medical emergencies
- Monitor youth in medical observation status
- Coordinate care with physicians and mental health professionals
- Maintain accurate and complete health records
- Provide age-appropriate health education
- Address acute and chronic medical conditions, behavioral health concerns, substance use disorders, and developmental needs
- Interact professionally with law enforcement on a daily basis
Required Certifications & Clearances
(All must be active and valid prior to the assignment start date)
- Active California Registered Nurse License
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
- MAB or CPI Certification
- LA City Fire and Life Safety Card (must be LA City — not county)
- LA County Employee Health Clearance (must be completed before start date)
Assignment Conditions
This is a 16-week temporary assignment. Profiles should be submitted only for RNs who are fully committed to completing the entire assignment. Time-off requests, including single-day absences, are at the discretion of the scheduling Nurse Manager and are not guaranteed.
