Med/Surg RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) or Acute Surgical Unit nursing experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Georgia
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Experience with Cerner electronic medical records (EMR) preferred
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and time-management skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced acute care environment with frequent admissions, discharges, and patient transfers

Acute Surgical Unit Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to patients on an Acute Surgical Unit
• Assess patient conditions, develop individualized plans of care, and evaluate clinical outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established nursing standards
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate care team members
• Support patients admitted from the Emergency Department, PACU, and direct admissions
• Coordinate admissions, discharges, transfers, patient education, and transition-of-care activities
• Collaborate with providers, ancillary departments, and fellow nurses to promote efficient patient flow and high-quality patient care
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the Cerner electronic medical record
