Position: Acute Care Med/Surg RN
Schedule: 12-hour days, 6:45 AM-7:15 PM; every other weekend; holidays rotated with permanent staff
Experience: 1 year with at least one travel assignment, and 2 years in specialty; must come from a comparably high-acuity, high-turnover hospital - no critical access background
Required: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS preferred
EMR: MEDITECH
Unit: 14-bed acute care unit on a 483-bed main campus; 1:6 on both days and nights
Duties: Care for diabetic, CHF, COPD, GI bleed, renal failure and dialysis patients plus post-surgical overflow, amputations, debridements, wound care, DVTs and ETOH; manage Lasix, Bumex and heparin; CPAP on days and BiPAP at night; telemetry is monitored on another unit and nurses are not required to read strips
Note: Strict 75-mile radius rule measured from the traveler's driver's license address, which must be provided at submission; floats to acute care, cardio and ED patient holds; CNAs generally 1:12; Caribbean blue and/or white scrubs; 3 days floor orientation; strict attendance policy; nails may only be polished - no artificial or shellac
