Patient Population Adult
RN Ratio (Days): PCU 1 to3 / 1-5
RN Ratio (Nights): PCU 1 to3 / 1-5
Scrub/Uniform Color: Royal Blue\
Unit Based Orientation: Precepetor for 3 shifts
Nursing Assistant Support : LPN/Aide/Secretary Yes NSTs on the floor
Common Patient Diagnosis: Ischemic/ Hemorrhagic Stroke, Neuro Surgical - Brain and Spinal Siezure
Minimum years of experience required (exclude school clinicals) 3 years and 1 in Neuro
Required Drips / Medications: Morphine PCA, Heavy on pain management, IV antibiotics
Basic Certifications Required (BLS, ACLS, PALS etc.) BLS and ACLS for PCU
EMR System: Epic, Cerner, Other Epic
Are Staff Required to Float? If so, where? (critical care, step-down, tele, PACU, ED, Med-Surg) Required but only when necessary and travelers are the first to float
Additional Unit Specific Information: What qualities do you look for when hiring new nurses? What makes a nurse successful on this unit?: A team player, good communicator, willing to interact with staff, compassionate patient care, bedside charting
