Job description
The Infection Preventionist will serve as the organization’s Infection Control Officer and be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the infection prevention program, including setting appropriate infection prevention goals and objectives for the organization. The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the review and revision of hospital policies and procedures. The Infection Preventionist will be responsible for educating staff in the use of tools and techniques to reduce the risk of infectious diseases among patients, staff, visitors, and the community. This will be accomplished through the creation of an Infection Control Plan and Risk Assessment, the Infection Control committee, coordination with Accreditation, and collaboration with RRMC leaders. This position utilizes quality improvement & project management tools and methods to plan, implement, and lead improvement projects. They are also key in data interpretation and communication regarding the infection prevention realm. This will support the organizations’ key strategic priorities as they relate to infection prevention.
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Public Health, Nursing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum Work Experience
~3 years’ experience in an acute care or post-acute care setting.
~ Infection prevention experience strongly preferred.
~ Demonstrated experience using quality improvement and project management tools and methods.
~ Experience gathering and analyzing large and complex sets of data.
Board Certified Infection Control (CIC), within 2 years of hire.
Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) is desirable.
Demonstrated working knowledge of universally accepted quality improvement methods and change management.
Strong Microsoft desktop application skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and web browsers).
Willingness and ability to utilize personal vehicle for work purposes.
Team-building skills.
