Travel Registered Nurse- Family Medicine Practice- North Dakota
American Consultants is looking for a travel registered nurse that has experience with both a family medicine practice and an urgent care clinic. Will split time between the two.
Position Summary
The Ambulatory/Urgent Care RN delivers direct, fast-paced patient care, performs rapid triage, and assists providers with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in an outpatient setting. [1, 2]
Key Responsibilities
- Triage & Assessment: Evaluate walk-in patients quickly, take vital signs, record medical histories, and prioritize care based on symptom severity. [1]
- Direct Clinical Care: Administer oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intravenous (IV) medications, and start IV lines as ordered. [1]
- Procedure Assistance: Assist physicians or advanced practice providers with minor office procedures, wound care, splinting, and suture removal. [1, 2]
- Diagnostic Testing: Collect lab specimens, perform waived point-of-care tests (e.g., strep tests, urinalysis), and log results. [1, 2]
- Patient Communication: Deliver discharge instructions, explain at-home care, and conduct phone triage or follow-up calls. [1, 2]
- Clinic Workflow: Coordinate patient flow, document accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR), and occasionally cross-cover support duties. [1, 2]
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) often preferred or required.
- Experience: Previous medical office, urgent care, or emergency room experience is strongly preferred.
