Unit: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Beds: 17 (Phase I Recovery Only) Charting System: Epic
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced PACU Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in a high-acuity surgical recovery unit. This is a Phase I PACU with 17 beds, caring for post-operative patients including ICU-level recoveries when needed. Candidates with strong PACU backgrounds are preferred, while ICU or Emergency Department experience is also highly valued.
Requirements
- Active RN license
- BLS, ACLS & PALS required
- Minimum recent PACU experience preferred
- ICU or ED experience accepted as strong complementary experience
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Unit Highlights
- 17-bed Phase I PACU (travelers do not cover Phase II)
- ICU patients recover in PACU and may be held overnight when ICU beds are unavailable
- Care for ventilated, BiPAP, and CPAP patients with Respiratory Therapy support
- Continuous cardiac monitoring with RN rhythm interpretation and physician consultation
- Dedicated Team Leads provide support and lunch coverage (no patient assignment)
Schedule & Call 12 hr mids 11a-11:30p, weekends as scheduled No self-scheduling Weekend call approximately once every 3 months (Sat–Sun, 7 AM–7 PM) Holiday call on a rotating schedule (maximum one major holiday annually) Floating & Orientation No floating to other units required for travelers Travelers receive a modified unit-specific orientation based on prior experience Hospital-provided surgical scrubs (daily vending system) This assignment is ideal for PACU nurses comfortable managing complex post-anesthesia patients in a collaborative, high-acuity recovery environment using Epi
