Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse Rural Area. This facility requires an experienced ER nurse to provide high-quality care in a Critical Access hospital setting. The position involves managing acute trauma, geriatric, and chronic disease cases with a focus on team-based patient care.
Job Details
- Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC. Education requirements include a valid RN license and at least 1 year of experience. Location requirement: must reside within 50 miles of the facility. Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Responsibilities include initial trauma care, managing patients with dementia, stroke, wounds, and exacerbation of chronic illnesses. Tasks involve IV medication administration, fluid and blood transfusions, and electrolyte management.
- The ER operates with a team nursing model, with a charge nurse on each shift, and nurse aides/CNAs supporting patient care. RNs are expected to read and interpret strips and troubleshoot RT equipment.
- Competency in handling titratable and set-rate drips such as electrolytes, hypertensive medications, IV antibiotics, and blood products is required.
- Support equipment includes vents, Cpap, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen devices, with RN responsibility limited to troubleshooting.
- Typical shifts are 12 hours, from 0645 to 1915 or 1845 to 0715. Block scheduling may be available upon request. There are no call or standby requirements.
- Other details include a 25-bed facility with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:8, and the use of the EPIC charting system.
- The position is for a contract starting on 09/21/2026 and ending on 12/21/2026, with the initial orientation lasting 3 shifts.
