RN – ER I | Wilmington Hospital – Wilmington, DE
- Position: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room I
- Unit: Emergency Nursing – Wilmington
- Contract Options: 13 or 25 weeks
- Start Date: October 6, 2026
- Firm End Date: March 27, 2027
- Shift: 12-hour Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
- Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts per week
- Call: None
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Yes
- Floating: Yes, to areas within the RN's demonstrated acuity/competency
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience – no exceptions
- EMR: Recent Epic experience required
- License: Active Delaware RN or Compact RN license must be in hand
- Interview: Auto Offer – ER List D
- RTO: Maximum of 3 days; all RTO must be submitted initially. Requests after submission will not be considered or approved.
Important Scheduling & Overtime Information
- Travel RNs are not authorized to pick up overtime shifts and overtime will not be approved by ChristianaCare.
- Incidental overtime is also not authorized and cannot be accumulated or approved.
- Nurses are expected to provide timely handoff to the charge or oncoming nurse at the top of the hour when a code, RRT, or significant event occurs near the end of the shift.
- Staff should communicate outstanding clinical tasks that may not be readily apparent in the EMR to ensure a safe and efficient transition of care.
- Nurses are expected to take their assigned meal breaks during the shift.
- Untaken meal-break time cannot be accumulated or converted into additional hours.
- Nurses should communicate with the Charge RN, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Nurse Manager if assistance is needed with patient care, handoff, or break coverage.
- The only stated exception involving additional time relates to procedural areas with on-call or scheduled procedures, when additional coverage is necessary to keep procedures on schedule or manage emergent cases.
