Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Surgical (ICU Surgical) RN position available in a healthcare facility. The role involves providing critical care to post-surgical, trauma, and multisystem patients with a focus on trauma and ICU experience. The position features day shifts with scheduled weekend and holiday requirements, and includes comprehensive orientation and support from intensivists and respiratory therapists.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 36 hours per week, from 08/31/2026 to 11/30/2026.
  • Required Qualifications: Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that application process has been initiated; at least one year of ICU experience; certifications including BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Level I trauma, ICU titration skills for pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin; ability to read and interpret telemetry strips; experience with EPIC charting system.
  • Responsibilities: Providing direct patient care for post-surgical, multisystem trauma, and endovascular patient populations; managing titratable drips and medications; documenting patient status; participating in unit orientation and clinical support activities.
  • Additional Information:
    • Local rate applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles.
    • OSF call-off policy includes the equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks without penalty.
    • Has a team of nurse aides/patient care techs; a hospitalist and intensivist are in-house 24/7, with telemedicine support.
    • RT equipment available 24/7, including vents, CPAP, and Bipap; nurses are responsible for reading telemetry strips with monitor tech support.
    • Float rotation may be required; unit staff to float to a lower level of care and take a full team, caring for 3 patients on step-down and 5-6 in general medical environment.
    • No specific dress code required; orientation includes 8 hours training on EPIC, shadowing, and precepted practice.
