Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Units for a facility in Madison, WI. This role involves providing expert care to adult patients with complex cardiac and medical conditions in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will support interdisciplinary teams, manage titratable vasoactive drips, and collaborate closely with procedural units to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Step Down Unit
- Schedule: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, from 07:00 am to 07:30 pm, Monday through Friday with every other weekend required
- Required Qualifications: Active WI Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license, BLS & ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association, minimum of 3 years of inpatient acute care experience within the last 3 years in a cardiac/telemetry or step down setting, proficiency with Epic charting system, experience with cardiac telemetry, arterial line management, invasive monitoring, vasoactive drips, and bedside procedures, passing a telemetry exam with two attempts required
- Preferred Qualifications: Community hospital experience, LTAC experience, trauma level I or II experience, previous charge nurse experience, experience with patient ratios of 4 patients per nurse in day and night shifts, experience with complex cardiac procedures, and fast-paced cardiac units.
- Additional Information: The unit cares for adults with diagnoses including myocardial infarctions, arrhythmias, post-cardiac procedures, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and transplant pre/post care. The facility is ranked among the nation's top heart hospitals, offering advanced cardiac technology and collaborative interdisciplinary support, including IV teams, respiratory services, and rapid response teams. The travel assignment requires passing specific telemetry examinations and adherence to strict testing criteria. Travelers may need to float as required, within a 50-mile radius, and must have a minimum of two years' recent acute care experience in the specialty.
