Job Summary:
The Contract Cardiovascular and Critical Care Nursing position is located in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized nursing care within a fast-paced intermediate cardiac step-down unit, focusing on patients with cardiac and medical-surgical needs. The position requires strong clinical skills and the ability to manage complex patient cases efficiently.

Job Details:

  • Position Title: Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down Registered Nurse

  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week

  • Shift Details: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Required Certifications: Wisconsin RN License, BLS, ACLS (AHA or ARC)
  • Required Qualifications: Associate Degree or Certificate; must have at least 1 year of recent experience in cardiac step-down units, intermediate cardiac, or cardiac ICU; 2 years of IMC/PCU/Tele experience; experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips; ability to pass EKG test first week of hire; Epic charting experience within the past year.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree
  • Float Requirements: Float to all inpatient units as needed.
  • On Call/Call Back Requirements: Eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, in hour increments, not considered on call.
  • Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and every other holiday.
  • Unit Information: A 44-bed intermediate cardiac step-down unit, handling post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defibrillator, ablations, acute CP/MI, and other medical-surgical overflow conditions. Patient ratio typically 1:4.
  • Responsibilities: Managing patients with complex cardiac and medical conditions, utilizing EPIC charting, adhering to unit protocols, and providing resilient, independent, and timely nursing care.
  • Additional Notes: Uniforms can be any color. During flu season, declining vaccination requires wearing a mask at all times. GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation; guaranteed hours are provided during the contract, except during holidays when the unit is closed.
