Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nurse opportunity available in a Level II trauma center with a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and 16 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) beds. This 17-week contract provides holiday coverage for high-acuity respiratory and medical patients, including those requiring ventilator and trach management, feedings tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, and CRRT. The role involves working every other weekend with rotating shift times of 0700-1900 or 1900-0700.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend rotation, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Education and Experience: 2 years of experience in pediatric intensive care, with skills in aseptic and sterile techniques, basic dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, suctioning, G-tube/J-tube management, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, drip management, Foley insertion and management, discharge skills, and CRRT (preferably with Prismax). Location Requirements: ability to work in a Level II trauma center and PICU.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with CRRT, trauma, ECMO, and Epic electronic medical records.
  • Additional Information: The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced ICU setting with high-acuity pediatric and neonatal patients, including those with congenital heart defects, respiratory illnesses, trauma, and post-surgical care. Float to MedSurg, Emergency Department, or NICU as needed. This position is ideal for first-time travelers and requires the ability to adapt quickly to various patient care scenarios.
