- Days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday

- Unit: High-acuity Phase I PACU
- Facility: Magnet & Teaching Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
- Beds: 1,273
- PACU: 38 bays
- Charting: Epic
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
✅ Main Requirements
- 2 years experience required
- 2 years PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center — HARDSTOP
- ICU/Critical Care experience — REQUIRED
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Epic experience required
- Critical care/inpatient experience required
- High-acuity PACU experience required
📜 Certifications
Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
Preferred:
- CCRN
- TNCC
🚨 HARDSTOP Skills
Candidate must have experience with:
- Post-cardiac surgery
- Lobectomy
- Chest trauma
- Exploratory laparotomy (Ex-lap)
- Splenectomy
- Trauma patients
- Drains
- Vasoactive drips
- Mechanical ventilation
- General anesthesia recovery
- ICP monitoring
- Blood product administration
- Dysrhythmia recognition/management
- Starting/maintaining IVs
- Phlebotomy
If missing required skills or 2 years Level I Trauma ICU/PACU experience → screen out.

They recover patients from:
- Neurosurgery
- ENT
- Plastics
- Orthopedics
- Thoracic
- Vascular
- Trauma
- General surgery
- Colorectal
- GYN
- Urology
- Electrophysiology
- Interventional Radiology
- Transplant
They do NOT recover:
- Open-heart surgery
- Liver transplants
🔄 Floating
Traveler may float within the service line to:
- ICU
- Main PACU
- PCU
- Medical-Surgical
- ER Holding
They may also float to PACU or Pre-Op according to the initial description.
🌙 Important Night-Shift Requirement
Night-shift nurses may need to work up Pre-Op patients from 5:30 AM–7:30 AM when there are no PACU patients.
They will need to learn:
- Pre-op assessment
- Pre-op education
- Pre-op medications
- EKG/rhythm analysis
- Blood draws
- IV starts
📅 RTO
- Maximum 7 days RTO
- More than 7 days → manager approval
- Holiday RTO → manager approval
- All RTO must be finalized at submission
- ❌ No new RTO after submission
- ❌ No RTO during the first week
