Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing position is located in an acute care setting. The role involves providing perioperative nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and sedation, including outpatient and inpatient cases such as heart catheterizations, structural heart procedures, vascular interventions, thoracic surgeries, and cardiac surgeries. The position requires adaptability to a fast-paced environment with a focus on patient safety and recovery.
Job Details:
- Certifications required: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association)
- Education and experience: Minimum of 1 year of PACU experience required; cardiac experience preferred
- Location requirements: Not specified
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; shifts can be a combination of three per week, including one shift between 0800-2030 each week
- Shift times: 0500-1730, 0600-1830, 0700-1930, 0800-2030
- Call requirement: Required, including weekends and hospital-recognized holidays, with a one-hour response time
- Float: Float rotation may be required, but not to other units
- Additional information: Expect a 1-week orientation with a survival guide provided; charting system used is EPIC; the charge nurse/house supervisor does not take assignments; no BSN requirement; no license submission required; trauma level is 1; acute care setting; shifts include a combination of scheduled work and on-call as needed.
