Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) to provide care for patients who require a higher level of monitoring and nursing care than a traditional MedSurg unit but do not require intensive care.

The PCU RN will care for a diverse patient population, including stroke, cardiac, postoperative, and general medical patients. The ideal candidate is adaptable, clinically strong, and comfortable managing patients with varying levels of acuity.
 

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU/stepdown patients.
• Monitor and assess patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions.
• Care for stroke, cardiac, postoperative, orthopedic, GU, GYN, general surgery, and medical patients.
• Manage cardiac patients and cardiac drips when applicable.
• Perform ongoing assessments and recognize changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications and treatments safely.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Accurately document patient care in EPIC.
• Prioritize care for multiple patients in a higher-acuity environment.
• Float onsite within the nurse's skill set or to other facilities within approximately 40 miles, as needed.

Requirements

• Active RN State License
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg or IMCU/PCU experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• EPIC experience
• Strong ability to care for a wide variety of patient populations
• Ability to manage higher-acuity patients in a stepdown/intermediate care environment

Floating Requirement

Floating is required. The RN may be floated:

• Within the facility to units within their established skill set
• To other sites within approximately 40 miles, when needed

Compliance

Travelers who have not had a break in service exceeding 90 days may not be required to complete a new compliance packet, provided all annual requirements have been completed on time.
