What the Facility Wants (Requirements & Expectations)
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience Required: At least 2 years of recent experience in the field (6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience in the last 2 years preferred).
- Union Representation: Position is represented by the California Nurses Association (CNA).
- License & Certifications: Active California RN license, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (required within 6 months of hire). Basic Dysrhythmia and Critical Care courses preferred.
Clinical & Unit Overview
- Facility Details: 162-bed acute care facility featuring a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a county-designated trauma center.
- Core Responsibilities: Planning and providing step-down nursing care, interpreting ECG rhythms accurately, managing life-threatening emergencies, and supervising ancillary personnel.
- Specialized Skills: Competence in medication administration, IV therapy/blood products, indwelling catheters/drains, managing post-coronary intervention patients (including femoral sheath removal using Femostop), and care for post-permanent pacemaker/AICD patients.
- Floating Requirements: Must be willing to float to Med-Surg (MS) if needed.
