Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry/Behavioral Health
Shift: Night
Schedule: 4x12-hour shifts
Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: Contracted shifts guaranteed after facility call-off policy is met
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse will provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to patients on a combined Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and Behavioral Health unit. The RN will work collaboratively with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to assess patients, administer medications, monitor cardiac and clinical status, and provide patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and Behavioral Health patients.
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and changes in clinical status.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols.
- Monitor telemetry and recognize changes requiring intervention or escalation.
- Perform and interpret EKGs as required; an EKG examination is required.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Follow infection prevention, patient safety, behavioral health, and facility policies.
- Float within the nurse's scope of practice to similar units based on facility needs.
Patient Ratios
1:5–6
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience required.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- BLS certification required.
- EKG examination required.
- Active license required; pending license is not accepted.
- Must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs.
Scheduling
- 4x12-hour night shifts
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirement
- Block scheduling is not available
- RTO is subject to manager discretion
Traveler Requirements
- Local candidates are not accepted.
- 50-mile radius rule applies.
- Previous staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler.
Guaranteed Hours / Call-Off Policy
The facility allows up to 2 shifts of facility call-off during the 13-week assignment. Once the 2-shift call-off allowance has been met, all hours based on the contracted schedule are guaranteed.
