This opportunity is for a Pre-Operative (Pre Op) Registered Nurse (RN) position in a busy healthcare facility located in Wichita, Kansas. The role involves providing pre-operative nursing care in a unit with a focus on patient experience, communication with staff and providers, and adherence to clinical guidelines. The position offers a consistent day shift schedule, and the candidate will be involved in various procedures related to preoperative and recovery care.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, minimum of 1-year current acute care hospital experience as a Pre-Op RN, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), located in Wichita, Kansas
  • Preferred Qualifications: Some preoperative experience or ability to assist pre-op staff; prior Meditech EMR experience
  • Float: Float rotation may be required
  • Additional Information: The unit features nine preoperative beds and five Phase 2 recovery beds, with a team of eight full-time RNs (including two open positions), two part-time RNs, four PRN RNs, and one unit HUC. Equipment used includes Pyxis, GE MACVU EKG machine, Doppler, patient scale, and bladder scanner. Typical procedures include Phase 2 recoveries for Urology, GYN, and other SDS patients, as well as pre-op surgery, endoscopy, cath lab, EP, CT, outpatient infusions, outpatient EKGs, blocks, and blood transfusions. The unit emphasizes excellent patient experience, effective communication, and adherence to policies. The role involves on-call shifts every 8-9 weekends, with a 30-minute response time while on call.
