Job Summary:
Preoperative Registered Nurse (RN) position in the preoperative holding and day surgery unit within a general healthcare facility located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The role involves preparing surgical patients for procedures, administering moderate sedation, and providing phase 2 recovery care. The position is scheduled for daytime shifts, with a focus on patient safety, efficient workflow, and adherence to established policies.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts starting at 5:30 AM, with options for 4-10 hour shifts; includes one closing day per week staying until the unit closes. Closing shifts start at 7:00 AM and extend until the last patient leaves, with pay for time after 7:00 PM.
- Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse. Experience in IV Starts, Moderate Sedation, preoperative patient preparation, and phase 2 recovery required. Minimum one year of relevant experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing procedures such as nerve blocks, arterial lines, central lines, and Swan.
- Additional Information: No weekends or holidays. The unit features advanced equipment including cardiac monitors, ultrasound devices, and EKG machines. Staff is experienced with a strong team dynamic, utilizing Meditech documentation system. The unit emphasizes excellent patient care with modern technology and skilled staff.
