Job Summary:
The Pediatric Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position in Oakland, California, offers a dynamic opportunity to provide specialized care to pediatric patients. This role involves working across multiple UCSF campuses with a focus on pediatric outpatient and inpatient services, including PACU, Pre-Op, and trauma care. The position requires excellent clinical skills and the ability to adapt to different units as needed.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Day shift, 10 hours shift hours, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: California Registered Nurse (RN) license, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), 2 years of experience in Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)/Pre-Operative (Pre-Op) and trauma care.
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level I experience, ability to float to other UCSF campuses, experience with trauma Level II, previous charge nurse experience, pediatric patient care experience, working with Epic charting system, and experience in outpatient/outpatient settings.
- Patient Ratios: 2 patients per nurse during day shifts; census approximately 10-20 patients per day with 10 beds.
- Additional Unit Information: Care for neonatal, infant, and pediatric patient age groups; primary position located in Walnut Ambulatory Surgery Center; support for OHNS, Orthopedics, Eyes, Dentistry, and other specialties.
- Certifications: Valid California RN license, BSN required, ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications mandatory.
- Travel & Orientation: Ability to float across UCSF campuses; orientation scheduled prior to start date; start date is 09/22/2026; candidates with a Monday start may begin sooner if permitted.
- References & Employment History: Must provide two recent references and employment history including dates, units worked, and manager names for rehire eligibility.
