Job Summary:
Pediatric Recovery Room Nurse (PACU PEDS) in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized peri-anesthetic management for complex pediatric surgical and procedural patients. The nurse will care for a diverse case load within a high-level pediatric medical and surgical center, ensuring safe and effective recovery for pediatric patients across various age groups.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 8/10/12 hour shifts, 7:00pm-7:30am or 11:00pm-7:30am with flexibility. Mon-Fri or Sunday through Thursday, with no on-call requirement. Minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Wisconsin registered nurse (RN) license or compact state license, at least 2 years of pediatric post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) experience within the last 3 years, Epic electronic charting system experience, BLS and PALS certifications, pass Telemetry test prior to start.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, patient ratio experience, community hospital experience, trauma level II experience, in-patient RN experience.
- Certifications: BLS, PALS.
- Skills: End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, managing ports, airway assessment, arterial line management, blood product administration, ventilated patient care, central line management, chest tube management, peri-operative discharge instructions, dysrhythmia recognition, emergency medication administration, various surgical procedures, pain assessment and management, pediatric-specific care, and utilization of specialized equipment such as PICC lines, PICC line management, and oral/nasal airway placement.
- Additional Information: Submission requires passing a strict Telemetry exam with a maximum of two attempts; a cardiac interpretation review course certificate may be required after two failed attempts. The position is located at a comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center, home to a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU.
