Job Summary:
Pediatric Recovery Room Nurse (PACU PEDS) in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves the independent peri-anesthetic management of complex pediatric surgical and procedural inpatient and outpatient populations. The position requires experience with pediatric post-anesthesia care, along with competence in managing a variety of surgical and procedural cases, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week, starting from 09/14/2026 through 01/11/2027.
- Certifications: BLS, PALS, WI RN or compact RN license.
- Education Requirements / Experience: 2 years of pediatric post-anesthesia care experience, with at least 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty.
- Required Qualifications: Epic experience, valid WI RN or compact RN license, experience with charting in Epic system.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge experience, patient ratio experience of 1, community hospital experience.
- Clinical Skills: End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, accessing/managing ports, airway assessment, arterial line management, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care, chest tube management, trauma experience, neuro/spine procedures, pain management, PICC line care, pediatric PACU care, and telemetry interpretation.
- Additional Information: Travelers are required to pass a telemetry test prior to starting. A strict pass/fail exam will be conducted. Pass rate of 80% or higher on both adult and pediatric exams, with two attempts permitted. If unsuccessful after two attempts, the traveler must submit a cardiac interpretation review course certificate before a third attempt, otherwise, the assignment will be canceled. Local candidates are not accepted; must reside within 50 miles of the facility.
